United Bank of Switzerland (UBS) Arena in Long Island, New York, is among the one-of-a-kind arenas worldwide. According to information made available by the company, the entertainment complex is "...one of the only arenas in the world built specifically for hockey." The arena owners charged
designers with the responsibility of designing the structure for "artists and concerts" as well. To ensure UBS has all the amenities and tools for hosting artists and live performances, Live Nation, an event promoter and venue operator, played a vital role in designing this modern arena.

While the performing arts were a dominant consideration in the construction of the UBS campus, the idea for the arena was born out of the need for the New York Islanders hockey team to want a permanent home. This Long-Island-only professional sports franchise played in three other venues before settling in its present home. They bypassed previous facilities because they could not find comfort in what the places had to offer. The history of the National Hockey League (NHL) team will tell they started the 50th Anniversary and the 2021-2022 season in the place they call "home forever."

The interior design and construction of the facility were not the only things the architects and builders had in mind. They constructed the exterior to accommodate and maximize easy access to and from the stadium. For example, they built an Uber/Lyft transportation hub between the arena and the Belmont Park racetrack. There are three Long Island Railroad stations in the area, and two buses stop nearby. Four parking lots are available to fans and visitors. They may exit the premises from where they entered or from other exits.
